This 24000TEU-class vessel, boasting near-zero emissions, is powered by a Molten Salt Reactor (MSR) that operates at high temperatures and moderate pressures to significantly reduce the risk of a nuclear meltdown. The design, which has received international certification from DNV Classification Society, represents a leap towards environmentally conscious shipping in response to climate change. The MSR technology, potentially using thorium, promises a “zero-emissions” operation and is part of China’s broader push for advanced nuclear technologies.
